Pierre Cardin future aesthetics

In 2020 many people have died, it has been an unfortunate year and in which, without a doubt, it was necessary to give thanks for everything being to maintain at least "the same" as before.

One of the last celebrities to die in 2020 was Pierre Cardin, I knew of Pierre's existence, but it was thanks to the obituaries that I managed to understand the dimension of the Italian personal work.

There have been many articles talking about the death of the genius and some of them have been of the highest quality.

In this post I would like to highlight the most striking thing for me, and personally what has caught my attention the most: "His real future aesthetics". I explain myself.

I have always heard that many artists were very futuristic and that they lived ahead of their time, but it was difficult for me to really see that statement. Being ahead of one's time is something completely extraordinary and on many occasions something that is taken for granted when referring to geniuses.

I would like to compare two audiovisual fragments:

  1. Picture of New York in the 70s.
  2. The second a video of Pierre Cardin in 1969.

I would like you to reconsider the aesthetics of both "moments".

I don't know if with this example I can represent what I think. Pierre Cardin is a clear example of someone who sees beyond. It is seen that the street of the 70s is ready for his proposals and it is possible that these will go forward.

Pierre's personal touch is superb and undoubtedly transgressive. But it is a very well channeled breakthrough with great criteria and with great care.

I believe that we are still lacking those new voices that predict what the future of fashion will be like.

From my humble point of view, I think it is necessary to assess with caution, coldly. Pierre was not exalted to the altars at an early age, but rather he has been a widely recognized creator and has sadly left us at 98 years old.

From here, thank you Pierre, we'll continue with the work of being visionaries.
